Symptoms of SJS/TENS

Both of these skin diseases can start with non-specific conditions including fever, cough, aching and headaches. A red rash across the face and trunk, which can spread to other parts of the body can then follow.

Blisters can follow the rash forming in such places as the mouth, eyes and vaginal areas. The body's mucous membranes can become irritated and inflamed. With TENs, the more severe version of SJS, the skin can slough off the body in sheets causing the patient to resemble a burn victim.

The exposed areas that result can facilitate the development of infection. Infection is the most common death in victims of TENS.
