Causes of SJS/TENS

While the Stevens - Johnson syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis can have no known cause or be associated with a viral or bacterial infection, they can be linked to many common over the counter and prescription medication.

Drugs that have been associated with SJS/TENS include the following categories: anticonvulsants, sedatives, anti-inflammatories and some antibiotics.

Specific drugs that have been linked to SJS/TENS include but are not limited to the following:

Children's Motrin

Ibuprofen

Dilantin

Lamitcal

COX-2 Inhibitors

Advil

Daypro
